In the world of plastics injection molding there is a need to continue to improve techniques and processes in order to improve quality and reduce scrap. Scientific molding shows us that controlling the process and monitoring the equipment leads to improved productivity. But in many instances it falls short or does not give the expected results. PlasticFlo Map aids the processor by mapping the machine injection profile to the part profile. Simply the mold cavity has a volume. The molding machine meters a volume of melted plastics that it is displacing into the cavity or cavities. We know when pushing the plastic, shear takes place which in turn affects the material viscosity and flow characteristics. By mapping out the cavity volume changes and having the machine adjust velocity in conjunction to those changes we can establish a consistent cavity fill velocity, thus resulting in improved part quality.
